This year, two of Carolina Lady Anglers’ founding members, Hudson and Dahlke, received the honor. From Page 10. Woods, who joined the organization in 2002, is an experienced angler in her own right. She has been fishing with her father, uncles and cousins since childhood, catching her first shark at just 4 years old. Her largest catch to date is a 35-pound king mackerel. Now, she is passing along the techniques she learned growing up to her son. While Woods loves fishing offshore with her family and trolling for mahi-mahi, wahoo, sailfish, marlin and king mackerel, she also enjoys the camaraderie that comes with Carolina Lady Anglers. The organization’s approximately 30 members meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the American Legion on Ashley Hall Road in West Ashley. Meetings often feature speakers who teach skills and techniques ranging from knot tying to boat safety. Beyond its monthly meetings, the group hosts social events including bowling, wine tastings and fishing outings at local piers, all while preparing for the following year’s Fishing for the Cure tournament.
