Island Vibes October 2024

23 IslandVibesIOP.com REAL ESTATE 34 Waterway Island Drive The finishing touches By Sarah Rose ucked behind the gates of Wild Dunes is 34 Waterway Island Drive, a unique island oasis. What sets it apart are its countless amenities and conveniences imagined by Carl McCants of the architectural firm Mc3 Designs, along with interior designer Amy Trowman. For example, the private primary suite encompasses an office, two walk-in closets, a bathroom, sauna and bedroom boasting sweeping views of the waterway and access to a deck. The laundry room itself, complete with tiled backsplash, marble countertops, a sink, floorto-ceiling cabinets and a window is a dream. An upstairs coffee bar and laundry room means guests don’t have to lumber downstairs for a caffeine fix in the mornings and can throw suits and towels into their own dryer before heading back out to the pool or on the boat. Further, an outdoor shower off the pool deck prevents wet feet from tracking through the house. Additionally, the spiral staircase giving access from the pool deck to the upper sundeck is moving forward, although it has not been included in the plans. Realtor Misti Cox of King & Society Real Estate & Construction said the exterior kitchens, along with ceiling fans and speakers on both floors take outdoor entertaining to the next level. Trowman said that one of the property’s strong points is the openness of the floor plan which brings the outdoors in. With privacy on the front side of the home and the back facing Morgan Creek bustling with water traffic, the home offers the best of both worlds. Inspired by the colors of the surrounding nature, Trowman said she borrowed soft natural hues for the tiling and paint, which began in mid-September after the hardwood floors and trim were sanded. Backsplashes, plumbing, closet systems and garage doors are also slated for completion, and cable railings will be fitted across the decks by December. Appliances, wallpaper and bath accessories will be installed towards the culmination of the project, which, according to partner and director of construction at King & Society Trae Redmond, has been seamless with no interruptions. He is looking forward to seeing it completed in January 2025 with the whole vision coming together. Redmond added that landscaping begins in early November and will be finished by January. By December the seawall, which took three months to build, will be completed. It will protect the 120-foot dock from potentially damaging effects from waves, tides and storms. The house is being sold unfurnished, and Trowman said she would be happy to help potential buyers with their vision.
