IOP city officials and various community partners will be available to educate citizens and provide resources for hurricane preparedness. Guests are encouraged to bring their families, as there will be fun activities and food available on site. This is a free public event. Sand Sculpting Contest WHEN: 6/1 9 a.m.-noon WHERE: Front Beach behind public restrooms and Coconut Joe’s Participants will compete to construct the most impressive sand sculptures, featuring different categories including Best of Children’s, Best of Adults, Best Architectural and Most Creative. Free event. SC7 Resiliency Conference WHEN: 5/20-22 WHERE: Wild Dunes Resort Join leaders from across the state and nation to discuss in-depth conversations on critical issues related to the SC7 pillars of "Environmental Sustainability & Corporate Resiliency," "Conservation" and "Health & Wellness." LENS Fundraising Banquet WHEN: 5/15 5:30-9 p.m. WHERE: The Citadel Beach Club Presented by the IOP Law Enforcement Neighborhood Support Program, the LENS Fundraising Banquet will honor the Isle of Palms Police Department. Isle of Paws Music Fest WHEN: 5/4 11 a.m.-3 p.m. WHERE: IOP Recreation Center Bring your lawn chair and your appetite for an afternoon of good music and delicious food in the park. There will be live music performances from Weigh Station Duo and Idlewild Revival, pet-related vendors and services, food trucks and dog contests and prizes. Rescues onsite for adoptions, vaccinations and microchipping. Admission is free. Dogs are not required to attend the event. Sea Stroll & Learn WHEN: 5/9 7:30 a.m. WHERE: 25th Avenue beach access Beach sweep with Susan Smith and Howard Hogue of the Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew. They will share educational tidbits about the impact of plastics on our coast. Sea Strolls are held the second Thursday of the month from May-November. Free. Residents and visitors are welcome. Free Beach Yoga Series WHEN: Every Tuesday MayOctober, 7:30-8:30 a.m. WHERE: 25th Avenue beach access The IOP Recreation Center hosts free beach yoga classes open to residents and visitors of all fitness levels. Instructor Kathy Berry will guide participants through adaptive moves and poses with a focus on the overall mind and wellness journey. Participants are encouraged to register at iop.net and bring a large towel, yoga mat, yoga blocks and water.
