Being there feels like a full circle moment for me when I think of going there in my 20s to one of my boys working there now.” Another favorite for Bonds and her boys is the island’s Fourth of July Golf Cart Parade. “We love to spend the Fourth watching fireworks at the beach. PEOPLE & PETS Pet of the Month Poppy: Pup of personality By Allyah Harrar Meet Poppy, a 4-month-old golden retriever puppy who’s quickly stealing hearts around the island. Though she’s the newest addition to her family, Poppy’s playful energy and sweet personality have already made her a beloved member of the household. Her ‘paw’-rents said Poppy approaches each day like a brand-new adventure; this rambunctious fluff ball is absolutely full of life. She especially lights up when she sees children and loves to greet all of them with tons of puppy kisses and tail wags. If Poppy could have it her way, her perfect day would start with a hearty breakfast buffet—complete with plenty of ice cubes because they're her favorite treat. After that, she'd go on a high-speed chase with her best friend Ruby to burn off the post-breakfast zoomies. Once her and Ruby take a long nap, Poppy would end the day with a relaxing golf cart ride to the beach with her family, where they'd throw all the sticks they could find for her. Of course, with all that puppy enthusiasm, there are plenty of funny moments. One time she had the zoomies so hard she accidentally ran into a parked vehicle in the backyard! Luckily, Poppy bounced back quickly, ready for the next round. Her family loves her silly spirit, and they're making sure Poppy is living her best life full of sunshine, sand and lots of love. Another sweet thing about Poppy is that she shares the exact same birthday as her owner’s beloved soul dog, Emma, who recently passed. “What are the odds?” her mom Sophie said. She takes it as a sweet sign that Poppy was meant to join the family, and we couldn't agree more. being a local in love with her island life. She explained, “We love feeling like we are living on vacation every weekend. We enjoy being on the boat every chance we get.” Bonds, a College of Charleston graduate with a background in medical and biotech sales, recently realized her dream of retiring from the 8-to-5 life and started her own business, Maid My Week Cleaning Service. “We offer residential, commercial, vacation rental, Airbnb, office and post-construction cleaning. This is a dream come true for me,” Bonds beamed as she reflected on launching her cleaning service. Bonds is a mother to twin boys Davis and Lawson, rising seniors at a local high school, and Tyson, their 10-yearold golden rescue pup. “We adopted Tyson through Grateful Goldens (Rescue) of the Low Country. Tyson loves island living and wants to do anything and everything we do. He loves boating, the beach, car rides and just being outside with us.” Bonds’ love for animals extends beyond her own family and into her new business; she donates a portion of her profits to local animal rescue groups. Davis and Lawson have grown up as quintessential Lowcountry boys. Both got their boaters’ licenses at 12 years old and spend much of their time in and around the water. “We all definitely enjoy fishing on the boat as well as tubing, wakeboarding and water skiing. I sometimes feel like I don’t have many pictures of the boys from their time growing up because they were doing what children are supposed to
