Island Vibes January 2025

Island residents Carolina Bryan and Joe Walker describe their recent trip to Italy as a dream come true. Even though this was their sixth visit to Italy, this time was exceptionally lovely and an experience they won’t soon forget. Bryan beamed with joy as she explained, “There were unforgettable moments and stunning scenery each and every day. Joe and I started our 20 IslandVibesIOP.com making it the perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon.” Their trip had a little twist at the end, and not from the limoncello shots they enjoyed after every meal. Bryan added, “Just when we thought the trip was coming to an end, the unexpected happened. Due to the CrowdStrike computer attack, our return flight to the States was delayed. But fortune smiled upon us, allowing us to extend our stay for four additional nights at the Grand Hotel Royal in Sorrento. It was the perfect, unexpected retreat, giving us more time to explore and dive into a few more Italian delicacies.” Bryan is a well-traveled philanthropist, with most of the incredible experiences that she and Walker enjoy made possible thanks to the fundraising auctions of various charitable organizations in Charleston. Her generous spirit shines through while she speaks about her many destinations. “We absolutely love to travel and experience the sights, sounds and flavors of each area we visit,” she said. Giving back to the community while sharing her travel adventures comes naturally to Bryan. Walker describes Italy as a spectacular, culture-rich country, and both are looking forward to their return to Florence later this year for a friend’s son’s wedding. Summing up their glorious travel experience, Bryan stated, “There is nothing better than opening our eyes to the beautiful world around us and soaking it all up. Traveling for me excites the soul and enriches my life. Of course, it's always wonderful to come back to family and friends and the comforts of home.” adventure at an exclusive villa in Roca da Avendura, nestled in Caserta near the Amalfi Coast. The views alone were breathtaking, but the experiences we had were even more magical.” Bryan recalled one of their favorite days: “That day began with a boat trip to the enchanting islands of Ischia and Procida, where we took in the coastal beauty and stopped for a delicious lunch by the sea.” Another spectacular day led them to a private winery and olive oil production distributor. “The wine tasting was divine, and the evening was capped off with a chef-inspired dinner at a historical castle, Castello di Limatola, that was simply out of this world.” While in Positano, Bryan and Walker spent one night at the charming Hotel Onda Verde and another at the Villa Maria Pia, a family-owned boutique hotel on the beautiful coast of Amalfi in Praiano. Soaking in the atmosphere of the picturesque towns is something Bryan cherishes about her time spent in Italy.
