IslandVibesIOP.com 19 Known for her energetic approach to wellness, Nestler is a certified fitness and wellness coach who channels that same enthusiasm into causes that benefit the island’s residents, especially those connected to first-responder health and community well-being. Nestler participated in the Lowcountry Dancing with the Stars at the Charleston Oxygen Ball this past May at the Gaillard Center in downtown Charleston, which raised more than $400,000 for the American Lung Association. “This dance isn’t just about trying not to trip over my own feet; it’s a heartfelt tribute to the firefighters who confront lung hazards on the job,” Nestler said. “Every awkward twirl and clumsy step was dedicated to them. They risk everything for our safety and I hope my dance brought some laughter, awareness and support to their daily battles.” Nestler’s family has served four generations in the fire service, including her husband, who has devoted more than two decades as a volunteer captain at the Isle of Palms Fire Department. It’s clear that her efforts mirror the values she promotes professionally: strength, resilience and a commitment to safe and healthy living. “My hope is for our island community to remain united, resilient and inclusive,” Nestler added. “A place where everyone feels seen and supported and where future generations can thrive with access to opportunities for health, education and service.” FEATURE Julie Nestler and IOPFD My passion for giving back stems from witnessing both the needs and generosity within our community. -Julie Nestler
