Island Vibes August 2025

IslandVibesIOP.com 24 PEOPLE & PETS Velvet and Annabelle are searching for their ‘fur’-ever families. These pups are with Little Black Dog Rescue and despite how they spent their first few years, they are full of life and love. Velvet is a gorgeous, loving gem of a dog. Weighing 50 pounds, she is medium sized, and the rescue estimates she is around 2 to 3 years old. She is very calm and her soulful puppy dog eyes are enough to melt anyone’s heart. Velvet adores canine companions and Rescues in Need Velvet & Annabelle By Allyah Harrar Velvet Annabelle would benefit from a home with another dog. She is also cat- and kid-friendly. She is crate trained, housebroken and great on a leash. Velvet has such a gentle nature about her that one of the shelter volunteers even commented, “She could be a therapy dog!” Annabelle may be tiny on the outside, but her heart is ginormous. She is a 6-pound teacup Yorkie who found herself homeless and alone. When she came to the rescue, this poor baby had fleas, an eye ulcer and a grapefruit-sized hernia hanging from her tiny frame. Annabelle underwent a successful surgery to remove the hernia but will be undergoing a second surgery this month (which will be covered by the rescue). They estimate that Annabelle is between 3 and 4 years old, and although she has faced a few health challenges, she is making a remarkable recovery. This little trooper still has plenty of pep in her step and would make a great walking buddy or could even be your new travel companion. Velvet and Annabelle are both ready for their forever homes and LBDR is accepting applications now. All information is available on Instagram @lbdrescue. If you think your home may be the right fit for one of these girls, visit littleblackdogrescue.org and submit an application.
