Instructor Kathy Berry will guide participants through adaptive moves and poses with a focus on the overall mind and wellness journey. Community Enrichment Task Force WHEN: 8/22 9-11 a.m. WHERE: IOP City Hall This task force was formed as part of the city’s Community Enrichment Plan. The group is composed of various community members, including residents, business owners, city leadership and tourism experts. They will be responsible for developing recommendations to address livability and tourism management and facilitating community enrichment on a continuous basis. IOP Connector Run WHEN: 10/5 8 a.m. (registration starts at 6:30 a.m.) WHERE: 1114 Pavilion Dr. Join the fight against child abuse in the Lowcountry. The Isle of Palms Connector Run 10K/5K Run or Walk will be a challenging road race across the IOP Connector. Starting on the Isle of Palms, crossing into Mount Pleasant and returning to IOP, runners, walkers and teams of all experience levels and ages will be rewarded with beautiful vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, local creeks, marsh views and waterfowl. A post-race festival for the whole family will feature live music, free beer, kid’s area, cash prizes, awards ceremony and vendor exhibits. All funds raised go directly to local organizations for the prevention of child abuse and healing those affected by it. Half Rubber Tournament WHEN: 8/10 starts at 8 a.m. WHERE: IOP Recreation Center The Annual Half Rubber Tournament features teams of three or four players competing for prizes in this fun and challenging game that uses a half rubber ball and a long, thin, broomstick-like bat. Sea Stroll & Learn WHEN: 8/8 7:30 a.m. WHERE: 25th Ave beach access Abbi Cochran, a naturalist guide with Coastal Expeditions, will give a talk on reptiles. Sea Strolls are free and held the second Thursday of the month from May-November. Residents and visitors are welcome. Farmer’s Market & Food Truck Jam Series WHEN: 8/15 4-7 p.m. WHERE: IOP Recreation Center Featuring fresh produce, food vendors, live music and more. The farmer’s market will be held every third Thursday from June through October. Free admission. Parking is available on site.
