Army veteran Richard Adams and his wife Shelly first came to the Isle of Palms when they were dating in 1998. On their first vacation to the island, they stayed at the Seaside Inn and spent some time at the nearby “Post on the Coast,” the island’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3137. Shelly explained, “We fell in love with the Isle of Palms not because of the VFW, but it certainly didn’t hurt. It has the best view in the country and the people are so warm and friendly.” Richard explained, “We’ve rented from more than a few rental agencies over the years, and our absolute favorite is Beachside Vacations. They have consistently provided everything we need for every vacation stay we’ve had on the island.” Richard continued, “When Shelly’s little sister moved to Charleston, we saw that as the perfect opportunity to return to the Isle of Palms and have been visiting here at least twice a year since 2002.” The Adams’ family dogs, Ozzie Brown and Boo Bear, accompany them on vacation when they can find a rental that allows pets. “Our dogs are part of our family. We love bringing them to enjoy the beach and the ocean. The Isle of Palms is the perfect place for our family to relax and take a little time to slow down from our usually hectic pace. The peaceful island vibe is something we haven’t found anywhere else,” noted Shelly. The Adams have experienced just about everything that the island has to offer in their decades of traveling here from Kentucky. From swimming to boating to fishing, parasailing, biking, golfing, paddle boarding, beach volleyball, soccer and lacrosse, the Adams soak up more than just the sun when they are out and about. Of course, they also enjoy the local fare and love to visit their favorite restaurants while trying out any new establishments that their time here will allow. “Relaxing on the back deck of the marina and taking in the view and the salty air is something I look forward to on each trip we are fortunate enough to take to the IOP,” stated Richard. Shelly continued, “Our kids have grown up considering the Isle of Palms as their home away from home. We feel so blessed to have been able to give that gift to them. We all feel that if you’re lucky enough to be on this island, you’re lucky enough.” We couldn’t agree more. Brandy McMahon, Realtor® 843.996.6377 bmcmahon@dunesproperties.com . . .
